You came here because you have a website and you have Google Adsense. Most Adsense publishers are so obsessed with it that they often go to the Adsense site to check if they have got any new clicks. I’ve seen a few who have a permanent tab reserved for Adsense in their browsers. Well, now you can check your Adsense stats right on your website without leaving it.

The Google Publisher Toolbar from Google is an extension for Chrome that does all the magic. This extension let you manage your site’s Adsense stats right from your site, without leaving it for any reason, whatsoever. However, this extension can only bring you a limited set of stats, you still have to go to the official site for all the minutest of the details.

The Google Publisher Toolbar has some awesome features like ad-overlay, account overview and multiple accounts. All you have to do is to get over to the Chrome Store and install this app. Once you are done, you’ll be welcomed with a settings page, where you are supposed to enter your websites’ addresses and then you are all set go.

[adsense]

Now head to your site and refresh it and you can see the extension in action. Click on the extensions icon near the omni-bar and you’ll see an overview of your account. you can also sign in to a different account from right there. let us take a deeper look at each of this features.

  • Ad-Overlay: This feature display’s a layer over the active ad units on your site and will reveal stats like, estimated income from that slot today, yesterday and in the last week and also the ad unit’s name. This can give you a quick idea of how different ad units perform and experiment with new ad placements.
  • Account Overview: When you click on the extension’s icon near the Omni-bar, you’ll see a pop-up showing stats like your estimated income today, yesterday and this whole month and also that of the previous month. It also displays stats like the top 5 performing custom channels and URL channels and also your lifetime income from Adsense. This help us from the extra effort of visiting the official site to check for Adsense stats.
  • Multiple Accounts:  If you have multiple Adsense accounts, you can save an extra click and switch accounts right from the plugin, which is very much handy.
  • Prevents Accidental Clicks: Perhaps the best use of this extension is that, it turns your ad-units into clickable objects, which on clicking takes you to the corresponding ad-unit’s edit page. This can prevent you from accidental clicks that might get you banned if you overdo it.

Overall this is a pretty awesome extension for all Adsense publishers, however there is room for a lot of new additions. Hope Google makes this extension even better in the future versions. Try it and drop your comments if you have any doubts.

Google Drive vs Dropbox vs Skydrive vs Others [Chart]

Posted April 29, 2012 By Ganesh Babu

The cloud drive arena got still more competitive with the introduction of Google Drive. With each cloud service trying to get a shot at the user’s bucks, it is very difficult to find the best one, which would suit your needs. So, let us see which one is more cheaper, better and more secure.

[adsense]

The guys at Ars Technica has come up with a nifty chart that compares the various cloud drives – Microsoft SkyDrive, Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, SugarSync, Box, and Spideroak based on different factors like base free storage, max file upload size, cost per GB etc.

You can take a look at the chart for yourself. To compare the various cloud drives.

This chart doesn’t tell about the whopping 25GB of free space offered in Microsoft Skydrive if you are an existing Windows live user and also about the photo uploading that would get you some extra space in your Dropbox account.

Box doesn’t offer syncing but only storage, however they boast the lowest cost per GB in this segment. Though Google Drive is very much secure as stated by Google, users are feeling reluctant in trying it as their policy states that Google can do anything with the content uploaded. With respect to apps, there are native apps for most of them in both the iOS and Android platforms, Skydrive is the only thing available for Windows Phone.

Also if you are a Linux user, you have desktop clients only for SugarSync, Spideroak and Dropbox. Though Dropbox’s offerings are a bit costlier than others, it stands out of the crowd because of its intuitive features and native apps for all major platforms, that makes syncing files across multiple devices a breeze.

We can expect Dropbox to stay on top for sometime but not too long, if they don’t come up with something newer soon as the competition is catching up. So what is that you use and what is that you like ? Do share your thoughts with us.

Have Fun With Google Images Search Under Water

Posted April 1, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

When it comes to searching for images on the web, Google Images has proved to be the best out there in my view. The giant Google’s ‘Images’ is notably very big for having a large number of images that one can use for their purposes. And also, as we used to know Google is a big company and it has lots of domains representing each country. For example the domain www.google.com refers to the original Google based in America while www.google.it refers to Google Italy.

[googleads]

And similarly is Google China. The URL is www.google.com.hk. And well, this is where the fun begins. Today being April Fools’ Day, most of the tech giants and people are already out there pranking people. Today morning, the netizens were abuzz with Google’s all new 8 bit version of Google maps. And similarly Mashable was bought by Conan O’Brien today morning.

And now, as you read in the title, I came across a pretty cool page where I noticed the Google logo and the search box floating under the water. It seems pretty much like Google Gravity. You can search for images and there go some images falling from the top. When I searched for the word “Apple”, I found three logos of Apple Inc. falling down while the next one was the fruit Apple. It seems like a maximum of only four images fall from the top.

When you type something and then hit the “Enter” button in your keyboard, the images fall. On the other hand, try hitting the “Search” button available there (The left one among the two – Since the text is in Chinese, we won’t understand :-P ). When you hit that button the images fall. And one more. Try hitting the other button, you will notice a gold coin falling with the letter “G”. It seems like for whatever query, the gold coin with “G” falls. Have fun with Google images search under water and don’t forget to share this with your friends! Also, trying moving the elements with your mouse. Click the mouse and throw them!

As known to all, Google Maps is a web mapping service application from Google, giving the users’ the access to revolve round the Earth and take a look at places in both Earth view and Maps view. Additionally, Google introduced a new view calling it the Quest view, enabling the users to take a look at the places on the Earth in 8 bit version.

[googleads]

This article highlights the noteworthy White House, Hollywood sign, Taj Mahal and lot more places – how they look in the 8 bit version of this map. Alternatively, you can go round the map and discover lots more places and see how they look in this version of the map.

Google’s 8-Bit Maps is Their Fools’ Day Prank

Posted April 1, 2012 By Ganesh Babu

Google is known for their Fools’ day pranks, we’ve previously covered various Google pranks. Gmail was one great service announced by Google on Fools’ day. Now this year, Google has come up with something retro, Google Maps in 8-Bit.

[adsense]

Just head on to the Google Maps site and you could see the quest icon on the map, next to the earth and satellite options, click it and you can see Google Maps in it 8-Bit glory. It just feels like browsing a map in a game like Pokemon.

In a short span after the ‘upgraded’ Google Maps went live, Reddit users posted world landmarks and historic sites that could be viewed on the map: the ParthenonArea 51,Mount Everest and many more “Easter eggs.”

Google claims that they have created some special kind of cartridge that would connect an NES to the internet and display Google Maps in 8-Bit. Really funny.

Take a look at this video about how Google made the 8-Bit Maps for NES :P

Last year Google pranked us with Gmail Motion, which stated that Gmail can take certain specific motions as input, that prank went rival and many really believed it.

What do you think about this new Google prank ? Do let us know about it and don’t forget to take a look at Mashable’s Fools’ day prank.

‘Google Play’ Gets a Place in the Navigation Bar

Posted March 27, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

On Monday afternoon, Google enabled a peculiarly new button on the navigation bar at the top and named it the Play. Google Play, as already known is the re-branded Android Market which gives users with everything they need. Right from applications, games to movies, Google Play will be seen to be featuring. It seems like Google is making Google Play, the ultimate place for every digital thing that one loves to own.

[googleads]

The button started showing up in the navigation bar of almost all the Google Search users right from Monday and the button Play seems to be sporing a text named “New” nearby. As known to most out there, whatever gets featured in the navigation bar from Google, certainly seems to get a boost. Earlier Google placed the Google+ button at the left most section of the navigation bar and now, Google+ is a widely popular social networking sites. Google+ is now linked to most of the Google products (like Google Search’s marriage with Google+) out there and Google is trying the best to make Google+ virally popular.

If everything turns out to be good, Google Play would certainly prove to be a really good product to Google. Google Play is an one stop place for all the products that one loves to own. If you ever wanted to play the latest released Angry Birds Space on your Android device, you can easily get the free version at Google Play. It is also reported that movies can be seen and bought via Google+

So, why is Google playing a lot aggressively? Though Android is getting really popular each day, there is no denying that Apple’s App Store is the top in the niche for the best applications and games. Google Play seems to be ranking the second even now. So is it that Google is playing catch up with this new addition to the navigation bar?

Google UK Crayons Mothers’ Day

Posted March 18, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

It’s Sunday and it’s Mothers’ day too in United Kingdom. What else makes a mother happier than waking up to see her daughter or son giving her a big hug and presenting a lovely homemade card? :-) To celebrate this big day with a lot of fun, Google UK has created a doodle and put it on the site, giving a warm welcome to all the mothers in United Kingdom. Once you take a look at the doodle, you will notice that the doodle is indeed a lot colorful and attractive, making it really tempting to look at.

[googleads]

The doodle from Google shows a colorful sketch made by a son or a daughter. The company’a name Google features the front section of the doodle and each letter of the company is written with a crayon by the kid. If you take a better look at the doodle, you will notice that the doodle’s creator has replaced the two O‘s with a feminine gender. The first O shows a woman beaming at her lovely daughter, who is the second O.

Also, the background features a bright sun at the top while the floor features greeny grass. Nearby lie lots more lovely heart symbols dedicating the kid’s love to his or her mother, in return for the overall affection the woman showed to her kid these years. Mothers are lovely, agree? :-)

Doodles have been a common practice in the world of Google. Be it a popular person’s birthday or death anniversary or whatever, Google is by far the first one to remember them and place a dedicated doodle on the site. The making of doodles started with the replacing of the original logo for the Burning Man Festival, to which the Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin went.
