How to Create a Facebook Page for Your Blog

Posted April 8, 2013 By Adeel Zia

Every aspiring blogger knows the importance of marking their work through social media. Social media is a proven method that has the potential to drive a massive amount of visitors to your blog. There are many different social media sites you can market on, and almost as many ways to do it.

For this article, I’m going to focus on the big one, Facebook. I’m also going to focus just on one important aspect of your Facebook marketing campaign. It’s one I see many people having trouble with, creating a Facebook page for your blog. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Start by visiting http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php.
  2. On this page, you will be given a choice of categories for your new Facebook page. It’s important to select the category that best represents your product, which in this case is a website. You’ll find “Website” listed under the Brand or Product heading. Select website from the dropdown, enter the name of your blog and click “Get Started”.
  3. If you’re not already signed into your Facebook account, you’ll be prompted to login at this point. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you’ll have the option to create one.
  4. Now you’ll be asked to add a profile picture to your blog. You can use a logo, if you have one. If it’s a personal blog or you’re branding your website with your own name, a professional headshot would be a good choice. You’re given the option to upload it from your computer or import it from a website. Click Save.
  5. The next page is where you’ll tell people about your website. Use a well-written description with good SEO. Is says right on the page that this information will be used for search engine indexing. Click Save.
  6. Now you’ll be directed to your new Facebook page. You’re almost finished.
  7. You’ll be prompted to be the first person to “Like” your page. Go for it. Someone has to be first. It should be you. It’s also the first step to spreading the word as the “Like” will be posted to your newsfeed.
  8. The next prompt asks you to share something. This is a great place for a welcome message or an introduction to yourself or your mission. It will be the first thing posted to your new page.

You’re new page is complete. From here you have all kinds of options for promoting your blog and customizing your Facebook page. The admin panel makes it easy to invite all of your Facebook friends with a few clicks. It also gives you stats on visitors and highlights new messages and “Likes” that your page has received.

The last thing I need to recommend that you do is upload a cover photo. You’re not prompted to do so anywhere in the building process, which I think is an oversight, and I see many pages with no cover photo.

Select anything you want for your cover photo, but make sure it’s relevant to your blog and captures as much essence of your work as possible. It also needs to be high-resolution so it looks sharp.

Follow these simple guidelines and get your social marketing campaign off to a good start. From here, you can explore all of the other options for marketing through Facebook. At the same time, you’re using your new Facebook page to collect likes, interact with readers and generate traffic.

How To: Change Admin Roles in Facebook Pages

Posted July 12, 2012 By Ganesh Babu

Facebook silently introduced a new feature some time ago, that will let you change admin roles in Facebook Pages. Previously, when you add extra admins to your page, all of them would have complete control over the page. There were many cases in which the person added second, removed the first person and claimed owenership of the page. This new addition will preent all those and will help in effectively managing your facebook pages.

With the availability of different admin roles, you can add your whole team to your Facebook page and each and everyone one of them can contribute to it.

There are 5 different roles availables. They are Manager, Content creator, Moderator, Advertiser and Insights Analyst. The names are self-explanatory. Manager is the ultimate role, who can do almost anything with the page. Content creator is next to Manager in power, he can’t change the admin roles but he can do other stuff. Moderator can delete comments, create ads and view insights. Advertiser can add ads and can view the page’s insights. While, the Insights analyst can only see the insights of the particular page.

[adsense]

Hope you got a hang of what each role did, now let us see how to change the admin roles.

Changing Admin Roles in Facebook Pages

  1. Login to your Facebook Account
  2. Go to your Page, and switch to use Facebook as the page.
  3. Click on Edit Page -> Admin Roles at the top.
  4. Once you click on it, you’ll be taken to a page where all the admins of the page will be listed.
  5. You can change the roles by clicking on the drop down below each user.
  6. Once you’re done changing, click on the Save Changes button to finish it.
That’s it, you’re done changing the admin roles. If you didn’t understand it, take a look at the screencast below to get it right.

Hope you were able to make the changes. If you’ve any doubts, let us know through the comments and we’ll help you out. Do share it with your friends who own pages.

Share Dropbox Folders With Facebook Friends [How-To]

Posted July 1, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

Pen drives and external hard disk drives are the thing of the past now. Sharing stuff over the cloud services is the latest trend. There are lots of cloud storage services out there and Dropbox seems the best in the niche. Google Drive and SkyDrive are some of the fierce competitors to Dropbox. There are other services too like Box, iCloud and a lot more.

One of the peculiar things of Dropbox is the shared folder concept. On Dropbox, you can easily create a folder and invite your friends to join it and thus make it a shared folder. A file stored in the shared folder gets synced between your computer and your friends’ computers easily. Thus sharing stuff between people becomes a lot more easier.

[googleads]

And getting on to the topic, Dropbox has recently announced a brand new concept of sharing folders with your Facebook friends. Now, lets see how that works.

Inviting Facebook Friends to a Dropbox Folder

  • Log into your Dropbox account.
  • Head to Account Settings and link your Facebook account.
  • Come back to Dropbox home.
  • Right click the folder that you want to share and click “Invite to Folder“.
  • In the “Invite collaborators to this folder” section, type the name of your Facebook friend and Dropbox will populate his Facebook ID. Click on it.
Sharing Dropbox Folder With Facebook Friends
  • Finally add a personal message below in the available box.
  • Click on “Share Folder“.
  • Wait till your friend joins! :-)

That’s it. The shared folder is now created. Once your Facebook friend joins the folder, you guys can easily drop in files in that folder to share stuff. If you aren’t on Dropbox yet, join Dropbox with this link and we both get 500MB for free!

What do you think about this new Dropbox feature? A lovely one, agree? If you find any troubles while inviting your Facebook friend, feel free to drop in a comment or contact with us personally over here.

Show Rage Faces on Facebook Chat [How-To]

Posted June 30, 2012 By Ganesh Babu

Rage comics and troll faces are all over the web right now. All those old witty jokes are now re-written in the troll language. What is so awesome is that, now you can add Rage faces on Facebook chat. We’ve seen before about how to add profile pictures of people and pages in Facebook chat.

We’ve been getting mails about adding rage faces on Facebook chat. So, we’ve compiled a list to let you know this.

We’ve listed the id’s of pages with Rage faces as profile pictures. So, you can use those to show rage faces on Facebook chat.

[adsense]

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME: [[Are-you-fucking-kidding-me]]
Cereal Guy: [[cereal-guy]]
Challenge accepted: [[100002727365206]]
Derpina: [[Derpina]]
Feel like a sir: [[Feel-like-a-sir]]
Forever Alone: [[Forever-Alone]]
LOL Face: [[LOL]]
Me Gusta: [[me-gusta-meme]]
Mother of God: [[Madredediosoficial]]
NO Guy: [[NO-MEME]]
Not Bad: [[NotBaad]]
Okay face: [[100002752520227]]
Poker face: [[Poker-Face]]
Rage face: [[FUUUOFFICIAL]]
Socially awkward penguin: [[Socially-Awkward-Penguin]]
Troll face: [[Trooolll.Face]]
Yao Ming: [[Yao-Ming-face]]

All of you’ve to do is, copy the id corresponding to that of the rage comic face that you are in need of, and paste it in your Facebook chat. You can bookmark this page for quick reference, else save this picture to your computer.

The Rage emoticons are not big enough to be used often. But a few of them, like the troll face are big enough to convey the meaning. If you want to create your own meme faces, just create a page or profile with the corresponding rage face as the profile picture and use the user/page id of the page as above.

It is advised that you use a page for this purpose, bacause if you use profile, it is likely to be deleted by Facebook in the future. If you’ve already created something like this, let us know and we’ll add it to this list.

We will update this list later with future additions. Stay tuned.

Did you like this list ? Do you want a particular rage face to be added to this list ? Let us know through the comments and we’ll add them for you ! :-)

Guide to Unlock All Golden Eggs in Angry Birds Facebook

Posted June 21, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

Angry Birds is a pretty addictive game that is now thrown wide around across lots of platforms out there. When it comes to gaming, Angry Birds is one of those most loved games of all ages. The game is available for various platforms like computers, mobile phones and even the tablets.

And since a few months or so, the game has made it’s way into the social networking sites too. As of now, Angry Birds is the most played game on Facebook with over 17 million users playing it. This game on Facebook is called by many names. Previously it was called the “Angry Birds Beta” and now it’s called “Angry Birds Friends” due to the new addition of a feature that will let you battle with your friends and win ranks.

Unlock Golden Eggs

Leave all those naming crap away now. We are on to finding and unlock golden eggs now! Also called the “Easter Eggs”, these eggs are hidden all through the games. The eggs can be found in the menus, game levels and in all other eerie places. It’s our job to hunt ‘em all! But, fortunately for you, I’ve made a collection of all those 10 eggs already and here is the list of places where you can find them. Once collected, you’ll find yourself with 10 brand, new, cool levels to play.

Golden Egg 1 : Go to “Shop” –> All in One bundle –> at the left side, above the description of the all in one bundle, you will notice a golden egg. (See Image)

Golden Egg 2 : Go to your “Inbox” and to the left of the button named “Send free gifts” you will find a golden egg. (See Image)

Golden Egg 3 : Go to “Avatar” and the “Bird-O-Matic” section opens up. At the top left lies the basic yet powerful red bird. Once you spot it, you will notice a golden egg just nearby. (See Image)

[googleads]

Golden Egg 4 : The folks from Rovio have kept an egg in the credits section too! Click the “i” button near the “Shop”, “Avatar” and other such buttons. The credits start showing up. Keep a close eye on them. Look for the name “Ari Arnbjornsson” and you’ll see that his “o” has been replaced by a golden egg. It’s yours now! :-)  (See Image)

Golden Egg 5 : Open any level in the game and click on the “?” button. That button can be found in the place of the “i” button that we came across earlier. Once you click it, a set of descriptive images start showing. You can notice a golden egg in the red bird help screen. (See Image)

Golden Egg 6 : In “Surf and Turf – 6″, a golden egg is available nearby a barrel at the bottom right. You will have to move to the right section of the screen to see that and also use a bird to get the egg. (See Image)

Golden Egg 7 : In “Poached Eggs – 3″, you can find a golden egg on the smiley. (See Image)

Golden Egg 8 : In “Poached Eggs – 62″, you can find a golden egg kept at the top right. You will have to zoom out to see that. I suggest you to use a white bird to rocket across and get the egg. (See Image)

Golden Egg 9 : In “Surf and Turf – 37″, make use of a White Bird’s egg bomb to take hold of the golden egg at the bottom left of the screen.

Golden Egg 10 : In “Mighty Hoax – 12″, there is a golden egg at the top right of the screen. Zoom out to see that. Fling a Yellow bird to get the egg.

That’s it. The 10 golden eggs on Angry Birds Facebook are now yours. Go and check out those cool, new, golden levels and have fun Angry Bird’ing! :-)

Posted June 18, 2012 By Ganesh Babu

With the introduction of the Timeline, came Cover photos. Cover photos are like your profile picture in steroids. They give you more space to show something from your life. However, if you want to stand out of the crowd and are not interested in showing a scene or a quote and want to do something cool with that space, you can now.

You can use make your cover photo and profile picture to work in unison and create a wonderful illusion with that. Pick out a part of the timeline as it was a jigsaw puzzle piece and make it your profile picture and lot more. When Facebook introduced a new layout of showing tagged pics, we showed you how to make it cool. Now let’s make our timelines much cooler.

[adsense]

Combine Cover Photo and Profile Picture to Make it Look Like One

  1. Head out to TrickedOutTimeline. Scroll down and click on Merge Profile and Cover Photo.
  2. You’ll be asked to upload a picture from your computer. Timeline dimensions are 851 X 315, so make sure you upload a picture of that proportions to make it look even cooler. You can also login to your Facebook account from there to choose your current profile picture.
  3.  Once the picture is uploaded, you can drag the selection to select which parts should be appearing on your profile picture as wel as your cover photo. You can see a live preview of it, side by side. Once done with it, click Done.
  4. If you haven’t liked their FB page before, you’ll be asked to like it now. You can’t bypass this step. So, do it.
  5. After you like the page, you can download the profile picture and the cover photo separately. Upload them to Facebook and check if it is okay for you.
  6. You are done now !

TrickedOutTimeline also has a few more cool stuff to do with your timeline, like creating a jigsaw puzzle out of the cover photo, create a  zooming effect, Tear off the bottom edge of the cover photo etcetera. Feel free to experiment with it and create cool Facebook cover photo illusions.

You can also use it for your brand’s Facebook pages, to make them more attractive and inviting. Try it out. If you came up with something totally out of the box, do share it with us too ! ;-)

Facebook’s Social Reader let’s you know what your friends are reading or read in the past. Social Reader apps are popular with websites like Guardian, Huffington post, Yahoo etcetera. If you’re friends share a link through any of the social reader apps, then it appears in the respective stream.

When you choose to read a particular shared link and click it, you’ll be taken to a page, where you’ll be asked to install the app. Sometimes, you can click cancel to read the article. But, most of the times you need to install the app to read the article.

[adsense]

There are some articles which you would like to read anonymously. You can always search for the title of the article and then read it. If you install the corresponding app, you might accidentally share what you are reading, even if you are in no mood of sharing it.

So, if you are interested in reading the particular article and don’t wish to accidentally share it with your network in Facebook, there is a chrome extension / firefox plugin named Unsocialize that can help you with it. It helps you read the Social Reader links without installing the apps or any other hassles.

All you have to do is install the Unsocialize for firefox or chrome, then when you right click on the social reader link, in the context menu, there’ll be a new addition called Unsocialize. Click it and then you’ll be taken to the article straight away.

Hope this helped you to get rid of those annoyances. If you liked this simple tool, do share it with your friends. Comment if you have any doubt.

Posted June 11, 2012 By Ganesh Babu

Moo.com is known for those glossy business cards they make. Of course now they make more stuff than just business cards. Some time before, with the launch of Facebook’s timeline, Moo offered free Facebook business cards which looked much like your timeline. Now Moo is back with the offer, but with a catch. You can print the Facebook business cards for free, but you should pay for shipping.

Shipping ain’t that costly when compared to the quality of the cards they make. I got one set of cards recently and the quality was really nice. Shipping costed me USD 4.5, but might change with your location.

[adsense]

If you are interested in getting it, head on to Moo’s website, after signing up when you begin to design your card, you’ll be asked to authorize the moo app for Facebook, so that it can collect your Facebook information like, Cover photos, Profile Photos and your contact information, which’ll be used in your Business card.

When you checkout, you could see that you pay only for the shipping. The offer is only for a limited time and the offer end date is not mentioned. So, if you are planning to get one, do it as soon as you can, because the offer has been around for some time now.

Moo offers a special feature called printfinity, that allows you to choose a particular design for each card that you print. There is no extra fee for this feature. The design interface is very user friendly, so you can design your card with no pain.

The Facebook business cards might not give you full customization capabilities. So, if you want to choose a different variant of Moo’s business card, let us know and we’ll offer you a 10% offer coupon. Let us know through the contact form, if you are interested.

Subscribe to our Newsletter to stay updated on more offers. Drop a comment, if you face any trouble while using it. :-)

It was yesterday when I came across an ultra cool feature in the Facebook version of the Angry Birds game, which will let you embed a small, playable version of any Angry Birds level in anyone’s Facebook Timeline, websites, blogs or forums, just like embedding a YouTube video. This new feature is called the “Share & Play” and it seems to be brought by Rovio to maximize the usage of Angry Birds application across the web.

[googleads]

On Your Facebook Timeline

When you finish a level in the Facebook Angry Birds game, there pops a box showing the number of stars that you collected. Alongside lies two buttons, one named “Share” and the other named “Embed”. Clicking on the “Share” button will let you to embed that particular, playable level on your Facebook Timeline, and your friends will be able to play that level right in a small version.

On Websites/Blogs/Forums

Secondly, you can use the “Embed” button to get the code, that can be pasted in website or blog that you own, and your visitors will be able to play that level right on your site. But the thing is that, the game runs on flash and it is necessary that flash is enabled for the game to be played. Try playing a level, live, right here!

Additionally, you can use the handy URL and paste in other friends’ “Walls” on Facebook too. That will give the user and his/her friends to try out that mini-Angry Birds game.

Limitations In This Feature

Though the feature seems to be ultra cool to all, there are a few limitations in this. Firstly, you won’t be able to use the “Power Ups” like Super Seeds, Bird Quakes, King Slings etc. If you want to use those tools, Rovio gives you an option, but that will take you to the Facebook Angry Birds application and you ought to play the game there. The same goes to the full screen version of the game.

If you try to increase the size of the gameplay manually, the game doesn’t. Instead an additional coating of white space appears around the game and the game remains in the same size.

What Do You Say?

So, any words that you would like to add? Do you think that this mini-playable Angry Birds feature will rock the Rovio neighborhood? Do you think this is a good step from Rovio? And also, do you think this one is way better than the alternative option to play Angry Birds on any site?

Smileys have always proved to be really rocking in the WWW world we live. When one wants to express one’s feelings, the smileys have always proved to be great friends and make things easier for the person to convey the message. As known to all, Facebook has got a huge collection of smileys that the users can use. Until now, the Facebook users are mostly prone to be using the smileys only in the chat. But, have you ever figured out an actual way to display those smileys in the wall posts, News Feed and in the comments?

[googleads]

That’s where this article is headed to. A small search in the Chrome Web Store reverted me with an awesome extension called the Facebook Smileys from Shan that will display smileys while using Facebook from that computer, once installed. It would be really rocking and fun to see those colorful smileys in the News Feed and comments, right? They are certain to make the Facebook’ing experience more fun than ever! The extension is available at Facebook Smileys.

Once you type the code for a particular smiley in a post or a comment, the code will automatically get converted to the corresponding, colorful smiley. Please make sure to use the right code for those smileys. The entire list of the Facebook smileys is available at Facebook Smileys. Check out and use them while Facebook’ing. I suggest bookmarking that article for future reference.

Note : Please note that you won’t be able to see those colorful smileys when you are using Facebook from another computer. Since the extension is installed in your computer, the smileys won’t be seen in another computer until you install the extension in that computer too.

And for the Mozilla Firefox or any other browser users, please stay tuned with Axleration. I’ll make sure to bring you add-ons or extensions for your favorite browser very soon. And also, if you come across any such tool, make sure to ping me in the comments section. :-)

Something Extra!

And also, here is something else to cheer your chatting experience in Facebook. It was a few months back when Facebook rolled out a pretty cool feature to display the profile pictures as the smileys in chat. And also, we blogged about a tool that will convert any text to awesome smileys. Do check them out and have more fun with chatting on Facebook.
