Facebook provides 3 ways to just make presence for people or any organization: a user profile, a Facebook fan page and a facebook group. These 3 social media entities are best for different networking platform as well as marketing opportunities. Facebook is one of the best social networking websites, where people can communicate with each other very easily. Usually, Facebook Pages are used to promote any product, any business, etc. and Facebook groups are used to promote and encourage a common interest. We have already seen that from last 2 years, Facebook is focusing its efforts in supporting Facebook Pages as the strongest and most effective marketing medium of all three.

Facebook Pages allow public information, organizations, any business and other entities to just build and reliable and public presence on Facebook. Facebook Groups are the best place for group communication. People can share their thoughts and common interest, common opinion in facebook groups. People can discuss about a common issue in the facebook group, every user of that particular group can participate in that common discussion. There are some differences between facbook pages and groups.

  • Mass messaging: Mass messaging is possible with the Facebook Groups, while facebook pages do not allow this. Only facebook groups allow this facility.
  • Membership Restrictions: Facebook Groups are allowed to control and manage the membership of the group and also can be Private, Public, and Secret. However facebook pages don’t have facility.
  • Sending Emails: There are some functions available in groups, like sending group emails. Sometimes it becomes difficult to send group emails once you exceed 5,000 group members. Furthermore, when making an event in the group, the Group can send an email to all invited group member, but Pages can only update it in the update bar. This is really very difficult as it has been already seen that very few Users pay a little attention to particularly this feature and the publicity is deniable as a result.
  • Specialities of Facebook Pages: On the other hand facebook pages offer many more services and features for specially personalization. People can make a facebook page more personalized, which is not possible with groups. Groups can never be personalized. Stream posts can be easily targeted by different languages and different locations so people can talk to their targeted market directly.
  • “Facebook Pages can be easily customized”. At the Customization point of view, facebook Pages support for the applications and the promotional widgets. People can make a customized promotional page for their targeted product. Many online marketers take help of facebook pages to make a dedicated page for promoting their products; however marketers also create their business group in the facebook, where they also promote their business and product. One more important component of facebook Pages is the facility to arrange Analytics to just determine the engagement levels of the targeted website.  Facebook is the best social networking website where people can promote their products, update something new about the product and increase the product sale as well as the traffic on their targeted websites.

Now Get a Preview of Timeline for Facebook Pages

Posted February 29, 2012 By G G

It’s official at last. Facebook is bring the much awaited and highly anticipated Timeline for pages on March 30 of this year 2012. With still nearly a month on, Facebook has enabled the quick preview of the Timeline for pages. If you are the owner of a particular fan page you can enable the Timeline for your page right now and get familiar with things. On the other hand, you can wait till March 30 just to see Facebook pushing that Timeline feature down your page’s throat.

[googleads]

If you are the admin of a particular fan page you will be really surprised to see a big box at the top of your page, quoting the message “Coming Soon: New Facebook Pages. On March 30 2012, all Facebook Pages will get a new design. Preview your page now to see what it looks like and try out the new features.

Once you hit the Preview button available nearby in that big banner, your page will be transformed to the Timeline format, looking similar to that of Timeline for users. As usual, it’s time for you to review all the posts in your page and arrange them. Once you are quite done, you can hit the Publish Now button available at the top and the new view goes live to all the fans. :-D

Based on my observations, the Timeline for Pages shows a info section below the profile picture, and four tabs lying nearby. The first tab features the photos section while the second one shows the Likes count. The third one shows the videos and as for the last one, it features a third party application used for that particular page.

While the Timeline features a two columns layout, the right side shows the posts in which an user has mentioned the particular page. Next comes the Recent Posts by Others on Page. And finally, there comes the Likes section. And later on, the posts fill the entire Timeline.

And when it comes to controlling the page, there lies a button named Admin Panel at the top right of the page. Clicking on it will bring a big box down, showing the Notifications, New Likes, Insights and the Messages section for your page. Do check that out. And finally don’t forget to add a big 852 x 315 pixels Cover photo at the top of your fan page. ;-) Here are pretty cool geeky covers for your Timeline page.

Haven’t got the Timeline for your page yet? Make sure to grab this ultra cool preview for your fan page and get familiarized with it. Feel like a rockstar on March 30. Hurry fan page owners!

4 Major Reasons Why Pinterest Works

Posted February 27, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

It’s been a few days since Pinterest has been making ground breaking records in the social networking niche. For the past month or so, Pinterest’s traffic stats have been rocketing off really fast. Too fast indeed. As of now, Pinterest has come below the hundredth ranker in terms of Alexa. Pinterest, if known to you, is a social networking site focusing mainly on pictures. Unlike any other social networking site, this one allows users only to Pin (so they call) pictures. Also, videos.

[googleads]

So, what made Pinterest work well now? A few people quote the fact that it’s the integration with Facebook that set off Pinterest to secure the top place in the niche. Yeah, I too agree with them. In fact that’s the thing that features the first reason of the above mentioned title. The addition of the Pinterest application to the Facebook site drove insanely lots of traffic to Pinterest. Wanna know more about Pinterest’s success? Scroll down to see the four reasons why Pinterest’s success is growing way too fast.

[stextbox id="info"]#1 Integration with Facebook and Twitter[/stextbox]

While Facebook and Twitter prove to be big competitors, Pinterest doesn’t care anything about it and has their social sharing buttons enabled on it’s site. With those buttons on, it is possible for the Pinterest visitors to share useful content with their fellow mates on Facebook or Twitter. Sharing on other social networking sites has proved to be really effective in driving traffic to Pinterest. This is one of those reasons for the success that Pinterest is witnessing right now.

[stextbox id="info"]#2 No Public Registration - Invite Only[/stextbox]

As of now Pinterest allows users to join the site only when they are seen to be having an invite in their hands. The invitation must be from an existing Pinterest user. With this option enabled, Pinterest confirms that only active users stay on the site, only those who love photos or pictures. If it opens registration to the public, all kinds of people might join the site, which makes you believe that it is a necessary option for a social networking site.

But such a kind of option will take Pinterest only down. The invite only registration makes sure that only active Pinterest users stay on the site. Thus no fake accounts or accounts with not much updates are created on the site.

If you are a big fan of photos or pictures and wanna share them with your online buddies, Pinterest is the site for you. Not yet on Pinterest? We here at Axleration are giving out free invites to join the site. Just drop in your email id either in Facebook or Google+. Within a period of time, our staff will make sure to drop in an invite in your mail box. Hurry!

[stextbox id="info"]#3 Only Photos and Videos – No Other Junk[/stextbox]

Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and all those other major social networking sites have already witnessed it’s users’ sharing lots of content on the site. Be it media or posts or links, Facebook proves to be the big city out there. But it’s not the same case with Pinterest. Since it’s emergence in 2010, Pinterest has allowed sharing of only photos. Well, it has added the sharing of videos too. It doesn’t let users to share any other junk.

While photographers and photo lovers want only photos to be seen the most in your social media feed, Pinterest gives them the option. This sets a great deal of power for Pinterest’s success in the social media niche. You might have noticed that videos play an important role too. Users can easily share popular, lovely, interesting videos from the popular video sharing sites like YouTube.

[stextbox id="info"]#4 Best User Interface – What the People Want[/stextbox]

It is nearly impossible not mentioning this as a reason for Pinterest’s success. If you might have created an account in Yahoo’s Flickr, you would have noticed that the photos represent a small section of the page while the photo’s information and other text form the larger portion. This irritated lots of users.

On the other hand, Pinterest’s User Interface is ultra cool with big images right in the homepage. The homepage shows a collection of photos in random sizes, be it vertical or horizontal. The screen itself shows a big image which makes it easier for the users to see the content, rather than clicking the ‘Pin’ to see the photo in a bigger size.

Feeling a little jealous of this ultra cool User Interface, Yahoo recently announced the revamping of the User Interface of Flickr, giving users what they want. From tomorrow, that’s from February 28, users can see bigger images and small white spaces in Flickr too, making the competition between them more serious.

Do you think Pinterest is actually on the way to the top in the niche. Do take a look at this infographic hinting the latest statistics of this giant, Pinterest. Make sure to share your thoughts with us after finishing to take a look at the lovely infographic.

10 Social Networks for Marketing Your Businesses

Posted February 27, 2012 By Victor

Social networks give businesses the opportunity to engage with their customers on a personal level. Social networks need to be included in every business’s marketing strategy as a way to reach customers, expand their clientele and establish their authority in their industry. Here are ten social networks for businesses.

[adsense]

1. Facebook

The biggest name in social media. Businesses create a Facebook Business page and upload relevant, interesting content to their account. Once someone “Likes” your Facebook business page, everything you post is automatically sent to their news feed. This is a powerful marketing opportunity to engage your customers.

2. Twitter

Arguably the second biggest name in social media. Twitter is a micro-blogging platform for sharing links to interesting content. Twitter is a good place to put links to your blog to develop traffic to your website.

3. LinkedIn

This is the the biggest social media platform made for business professionals. You go there to network with other people in your industry. For service-based businesses, this is a good place to develop clients. You can also establish your expertise here by answering questions in the LinkedIn Answers section. You can develop quite a reputation by answering questions with thoughtful, helpful answers.

4.Yelp

This is a social media platform where your customers review your business. You need to claim your business on Yelp before they can start reviewing. You need to respond to negative feedback immediately to keep a positive brand image. Yelp is important because your page and reviews are indexed by the search engines. When someone looks for you on Google, you want your Yelp page to display with positive, five star reviews.

5.Foursquare

Rising star in social media sphere where customers get incentives from businesses to check-in. The customer sets his profile up to automatically update his status that he is in your store when he enters. This message is sent out to his entire network which is a marketing advertisement and recommendation to his network. In exchange, you offer discounts or coupons.

6.Google Places

Being an alternative to Yelp, people use it to rate and review businesses. You need to claim your business on Google Places. Encourage your customers to rate your business on Google Places. Never tell them what to say. Coached testimonials sound fake and hurt your credibility.

7.Pinterest

The latest buzzword in social media pin board where customers pin interesting links, pictures and multimedia. You can use Pinterest to link to your blog posts that contain interesting pictures or stories. You can also encourage others to like your stuff on Pinterest.

8. Tumblr

If you need a blogging platform that works well for targeted niche topics Tumblr is what you are looking for. If you want a separate blog than on your website, you can set up a Tumblr blog, add multimedia and encourage your traffic to comment on your blog posts.

9.StumbleUpon

Social bookmarking tool for getting traffic and back links to your website. You upload your newest blog post to the StumbleUpon system. Google indexes the link and your blog post is in the search engines quicker than if Google crawled your site. This also works for other sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

10. Digg

Social bookmarking tool for generating traffic and buzz about your company. The key to getting high clicks on your links is to be involved in the Digg atmosphere, commenting on other links and bumping them up.

Social media can work wonders for building your brand image. As with all things, you have to work, be consistent and proactive in developing your online communications. Social media is the key to gaining traffic to your website, developing a customer base and establishing your expertise in your industry. You need to go where your customers are. They are on these ten social media networks.

Flickr’s UI Looks More Like Pinterest’s From February 28

Posted February 23, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

While Facebook, Google+, Picasa and the other photo sharing sites, including the brand new photo sharing social giant Pinterest, race ahead, Flickr from Yahoo is trying hard to get back on it’s legs. Though Flickr looks pretty outdated, it indeed comes with ultra cool features tempting even the most serious photographers out there. And now, here is the news. Flickr is now all set to get a new makeover, making it look more like Pinterest.

[googleads]

Users will no longer see those small photos, big white space around, more information of the photos rather than the size. The User Interface is getting a big overhaul making it look more like Pinterest. If you have been on Pinterest, you would have notice that, Pinterest shows those big images first and then the information underneath it. This is what users love and Flickr is about to feature a similar User Interface very soon.

If you haven’t got your hands on Pinterest yet, make sure to get an invite from us at our Facebook fan page or Google+ brand page. Pinterest is really a charming site!

The information comes from Markus Spiering, Flickr’s Senior Product Manager, who in an interview with BetaBeat announced this new change. He calls the present interface as lots of white space, small photos, lots of information around. Users are sure to hate when the photos are really small, tempting them to hit the photo to enlarge it, right? According to the reports, the new User Interface gives a screen with pretty large photos and need not be clicked to see the photos in a better resolution.

Also, Flickr is about to give the users an option to drag and drop the photos right from their hard drive. Users no longer need to select the images from the hard drive. The drag and drop option has become a favorite among all those online photo lovers.

What’s your thought !?! Will this new update prove to be a success? Is this the Flickr users want from the company? Will this new change take Flickr back to the top in the niche? Do share your ideas with us.

Members Profile Photo Now at The Top of Facebook Groups

Posted February 23, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

The latest change in Facebook groups is that, users can now notice a brand new, shiny, large banner at the top of each Facebook group. The banner sports the profile picture of random members of the group. The number of members displayed ranges from 5 to 8 at the most. It seems like this new feature had been being tested with a couple of groups from the past few days and now, today, Facebook has rolled out this ultra cool feature to all the groups.

[googleads]

It was today afternoon when I noticed this new feature in our Axleration group in Facebook. I was pretty stunned to see this new banner lying at the top of our Facebook group, replacing the previous profile picture it highlighted at the left side of the group. Also, there lie a couple of buttons at the bottom right of the banner : Members Count, Events, Photos, Docs.

New! Easily see who is in the group. Now member photos are right at the top of the group – just click on someone to see their timeline. You can find the old group picture in the group’s photos” says Facebook.

Also, when you hover your mouse over the banner, the profile picture of a member highlights and clicking it would take to the person’s profile page or Timeline. When the mouse is away, the banner gets diminished and highlights the bar underneath, sporting the name of the group at the left side and the navigation controls at the right side.

Alternatively, Facebook gives you the option to upload a big, long image to the section rather than displaying the members’ profile photo. Facebook asks the admin of the group to upload an image that is at least 400 pixels wide. The uploaded image would give a warm welcome to the members.

You might start wondering about the whereabouts of the profile picture that graced the group previously. Fortunately, Facebook has pushed that image to the Photos section of the group and is still accessible. The members and the admin can see it over there.

Facebook Brings Verified Accounts

Posted February 19, 2012 By Arun Sathiya

The latest news on Facebook is that, the social media giant is bringing out another cool feature called Verification that will confirm whether certain account on Facebook belongs to the actual celebrity or some other fellow using that name. Announced recently, Facebook has begun the process of confirming people and giving them a verified account badge. As of now, no such account is seen to have made appearance in this social world we live in.

[googleads]

This feature is all set to take the Subscription feature on Facebook further up. With the accounts being officially confirmed, the common people on Facebook can easily subscribe to the original celebrities’ public updates. According to the reports, once verified those accounts will get more probability to get featured in the People To Subscribe To section.

Though Facebook seems to be late in this part of the niche, it is sure to be a good change in the working of the social media site. If you are a social media freak you might notice the fact that Twitter owns this feature from ages and the recently made Google+, added this feature a few months back.

It’s not that you can approach Facebook and get your account verified. Facebook will pick out those accounts with a huge number of subscribers and ask them to submit a government issued photo id. Once submitted, Facebook will verify that account and later delete that submitted proof immediately. It’s all that Facebook has to approach you and you get your account verified, provided you submit a proof.

While verifying your account, you also get the option to display a pseudonym or nickname. You can either make it appear near your real name in your profile  or replace it with your real name. Opting to go with one of these options will display your nickname everywhere on Facebook and also in the search results.

Until now, no such Facebook account is seen. With time progressing, in a matter of time, it is probable that people will witness a verified account very soon. Are you a celebrity? If yes, you might get the chance to get your Facebook account verified. Cheers!
