Right now, we might be getting hundreds and hundreds of email notifications delivered to our email address. We open up our email box and see those junk mails in the inbox. It worries us a lot and perhaps in my case, it drives me insane too! When someone likes or comments on your piece of content on Facebook, a mail arrives to your inbox. Facebook’s email notifications sends individual mails for each and every notification!
To stop irritating it’s users, Facebook is right now testing out a new feature by which we will get only the summary of the notifications and not individual mails for each and every notification. This feature is not rolled out to everyone yet. Facebook is right now testing this new feature with a quiet few active people. If it works out well, it will roll this to all the users.
“We’re trying out a new feature to reduce the amount of email you receive from Facebook. Starting today, we are turning off most individual email notifications and instead, we’ll send you a summary only if there are popular stories you may have missed.” said Facebook.
To enable this new feature, navigate to Account > Account Settings > Notifications and enable the Email frequency available on the right side. Do so and notice a change in the amount of emails you get everyday from Facebook. If you don’t find that Email Frequency box, wait for a few days and check out again.
