How To: Fix the DNSchanger Malware
FBI(Federal Bureau of Investigation), recently disclosed that it will shutdown all DNS server which run with the malware DNSchanger by july 9. India is the third largest affected country with 21,000 IP(Internet Protocol) affected followed by US(69,617) and Italy(26,494). A DNS is an internet service that converts domain names into IP address which the computers understand.
Criminals use the DNS changer to change the domain name’s IP address from its original with their ones.There by they create fake websites and earn money.In the last five years, cyber thieves have used the DNSChanger to take off around $14 million.Though at 2009 FBI arrested the cyber criminals who created this malware a temporary server was set up by FBI so that the infected users can continue using the internet.
But now FBI now gonna shut down the temporary server which could affect thousands of users world wide.Many would know that they could not go to internet by monday(IST 9.30am).fbi gives the list of rogue DNS servers in its list and find what DNS your computer has at its site.
