100 Million Facebook Profile Data Leaked to Torrent Site

A 2.79 GB torrent file is out there in the internet containing data from 100 million facebook profile pages, but these data was actually available to everyone as no privacy restrictions were set. Hacker Ron Bowes from Skull Security created a crawler that pulled everything from Facebook’s open access directory, essentially giving him all data that people had set to allow anyone to see.

The weirdest thing in this is, that many famous companies too downloaded it. Gizmodo revealed that many famous companies has downloaded it. Maybe they could use it to start advertising campaigns or something like that. If the hacker would have sold that information, he could have become rich by now, because you can see the interest of every company to download the information about their “maybe customers”, But this guy left everything for free, so you too can download it here. This is not illegal, because it is a compilation of already public content on facebook and no private information(As set by the user) has been added to this.

Below is the list of those companies, just because a company is on the list, doesn’t mean that it’s a sanctioned download by the company itself to grab the user information for some purpose. It could easily just be some dude at the company who wanted to download the torrent himself to check it out. Also, the IP addresses assigned to a company might fluctuate (they usually don’t, much, unless major companies change their connection to the internet, so it should be mostly accurate).
