Yesterday at the RIM’s annual Blackberry Developer conference, CEO Mike Lazaridis announced Blackberry’s new tablet — the PlayBook. The tablet will utilize an OS created by the recently acquired QNX. This Blackberry Tablet OS will offer OpenGL and POSIX support along with recent web standards such as HTML5.
So let us look at the specifications of the PlayBook.

Processor : a Cortex A9-based, dual-core 1GHz CPU
RAM : 1GB of RAM
Camera : 3 megapixel front-facing camera along with a 5 megapixel rear lens

Dimensions : 5.1- by 7.6-inches and 0.4-inches thick
Weight : 400g/0.9 pounds
The Playbook is expected to be released by early 2011. If I find any more additions to the hardware, I will update this post. So keep an eye on the Playbook, it may be the real iPad killer.
