Google Introduces Nexus 7 [Specifications]

Google, today on its Google I/O annual event, introduced the Nexus 7, a 7 inch Android 4.1 [Jelly Bean] tablet. The tablet is filled with stuff and is one of the best of its kind. It can play HD videos, has a quad core processor, has a total of 16 cores (including the GPU). It is totally awesome.

Google has tied up with electronics manufacturer Asus, to create this device. There were rumours about this device for some time. There were various speculations about how it would turn up. Will it be an iPad killer or would it be a low cost alternative and much more. Google has fulfilled all of our dreams with this dream tablet, that too in a fabulous price. Let us take a deeper look into the specifications of the device.

Google Nexus 7 Specifications

  1. Display – The display is a 7-inch 1280×800 HD display (216 ppi) back-lit IPS, and it comes with the scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass.
  2. Processor – It has a Quad CoreTegra 3 processor. It is first 7 incher to have a Quad core processor. It also has a 12 core NVidia GPU. That is 16 cores of pure awesomeness, which can be felt for sure while gaming.
  3. Operating System – The Nexus 7 comes with Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean. It has various new additions over Android 4.0.3 – ICS
  4. Camera – A front facing 1.3 MP camera will make Google+ hangouts much more fun.
  5. Battery – Google Nexus 7 comes with a 4325 mAh Battery, that’ll give 8 Hours of use and 300 hours of standby as Google claims.
  6. Connectivity – It has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS.
  7. Storage – It has two models. The 8 GB model and a 16 GB model.


Google Nexus 7 Price and Pre-order

The Nexus 7 is priced at $199 for the 8 GB model and $249 for the 16 GB model. The price is cheap considering the power, the device comes with.  You can pre-order it from the devices section of the Google Play store. It’ll be shipped in 2-3 weeks. As an introductory offer, you’ll be getting $25 worth credits for use at the Play store.
