I have to say, I did feel some satisfaction when I heard that Google had lost it’s top position as the King of the internet. I mean who doesn’t love an underdog?? Yes it is true…….after being the leader for over 5 years they are no longer number 1 in terms of web activity and traffic.
This week, comScore, Inc. a leader in digital analysis, released its monthly ranking of U.S. web activity. This data is based on information from the comScore Media Metrix. ComScore’s monthly report showed that the number 1 spot went to Yahoo. I was surprised myself. Although, I must say I am glad it was not Bing. I personally find their search result less than affective, no matter what their commercials say.
Why this leap in success?? Yahoo had often remained second over the past few years. Recently Yahoo has purchased Tumblr. Could it be that some of the traffic from Tumblr has resulted in Yahoo traffic? Do people just prefer something other than Google?? What will this mean for Google?? As SEO marketers scan the latest updates and algorithm changes, will their focus now go to Yahoo?? Will yahoo stay No. 1?? It is hard to say. But one thing is for sure. The internet is ALWAYS changing…..
